Wisconsin State Council of Machinists
April 1, 2007
By Joe DeRosia, PR LL1502

Retired member Dan Watland and LL 1502 President Joe DeRosia represented our members at the spring IAM State Council of Machinists held March 18-20, 2007 in Madison, WI. The main focus of the event was Monday March 19th, when members spent the day on Capitol Hill meeting with our legislators. As we all know, there are several issues before our legislators. The main topic we discussed was healthcare. Currently there are three proposed healthcare reform plans before our Wisconsin legislators. In Addition, the governor has proposed a program called the Badger Care Plus program (a proposed reform of the current Badger Care System). The WI Health Care Partnership Plan is the current plan supported by the AFL-CIO. Below you will find links to more in depth detail of each individual plan. Keep in mind that the possibility of any on these plans passing in its entirety is slim, but I am confident some reform will pass.
